Zé Zuca and André Moura close 2011 Literary Solar
On Thursday, the 10th of November, the pedagogue, art educator, psychodramatist, radio announcer and director of ZZ Productions, Zé Zuca, visited Solar Meninos de Luz. On Tuesday, the 29th, it was André Moura who brought joyfulness and fun to the institution’s young people. Both professionals closed this year’s Literary Solar meetings.
Zé Zuca has worked with a child audience for 29 years and taught music at several schools. He writes texts, children’s books, composes and does musical direction for adult and children’s professional theater. With his program Radioteca, on Radio MEC, he was one of three finalists at the New York International Radio Program Festival, out of 1547 programs from 18 countries.
Zé Zuca was delighted with the children’s creativity and joyfulness. He loved the library and suggested some additions to make the reading and storytelling activities even more interesting. The ideas were warmly received by the Solar board, which is already considering their implementation in 2012.
André Moura read stories to the teenagers and showed them the same book with two different sets of illustrations. Thus, the students could see how a story can be interpreted in many ways, how it can be explored in different ways and also how important illustrations are in helping to tell it.
The professionals from the Children’s and Young Adults’ Literature Writers and Illustrators Association (AEILIJ) prepared activities to encourage reading, including creating stories, drawings, characters and songs, actual storytelling, solving charades and many other works to explore with Solar students. The AEILIJ partnership with Solar Meninos de Luz will continue Literary Solar in 2012.
