Tribute to Solar volunteers
Continuing the homage that Solar will do to their dear and indispensable volunteers, in July, our honored friend is Jane. She has been at Solar since 2010 as an evangelist in the Young mothers class on Saturdays.
Jane agreed to answer some questions:
Full name?
Jane de Souza Freire.
How did you get to know Solar?
Through Lar Paulo de Tarso.
How long have you volunteered at Solar?
Since 2010.
In what areas do you work?
I’m an evangelist in the Young mothers class.
How do you feel about working at Solar?
Volunteering has changed my life. Saturday mornings make me feel that life is worthwhile in the practice of good. Being with those families makes me very happy!
What do you think about Solar’s work?
Solar’s work is of excellence. It’s really very good.
Do you think Solar influences people’s lives? In what way?
Yes, of course! Solar is an agent of change in the families of Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo communities.
What is Solar characteristic that you most appreciate?
Joy every day even in the midst of so many difficulties. Even in difficult times in the community or in the institution sustainability, we see how Solar maintains the purpose of making a difference in the lives of children and their families. This is inspiring!
Is there a nice story between you and the young mothers?
The love we volunteers receive is immeasurable. Recently, I listened to the story of a young mother saying how bad she was when she arrived in the class and that today she is someone else, in love with life and with herself.
I hear many stories of life quite suffered, of much violence and loneliness, and I see how they are strengthening with the Spiritist Doctrine and the support of the class. They calm down their hearts, even their physiognomy changes!
One moment I remember with great gratitude was on my birthday, in December of last year, when they had a surprise party for me and another volunteer. They created a “secret” group in whatsapp, collected money, each one made a different dish, a giant cake, many embellishments and a beautiful poster. At the end of class, we knew that they had prepared another room especially for the party. It was exciting! I guess I never ate so many sweets on a birthday, after all, each one pointed to the little plate they had brought and I had to taste all of them!
They are all my heart daughters. Incidentally, this year we have men attending assiduously to classes and, therefore, we are changing the name of the class for Young Families.
It’s my spiritual family!
Jane, Solar Meninos de Luz thank you immensely for all the love you give each year to young mothers and families of the communitie!
