The Sun Will Always Rise Again…
As we have already mentioned, in the year 2000 we started our partnership with ASSESPA – Associação Educacional São Paulo Apóstolo (St. Paul Apostle’s Educational Association), which belonged to UniverCidade, along with Colegio Cidade. ASSESPA was responsible for the enrollment of students in the elementary, middle and high schools, as we continued to receive students only in kindergarten.
Through various fund-raisers and the selling of one of our houses (nº 43), we acquired the house at 143 Saint Roman Street, which came to be fondly known as “Chalé”, or hut.
Secondary school students who graduated between the years of 2006 and 2013, were able to choose, among other colleges, the UniverCidade courses with full scholarships. However, in 2014, our partnership came to an end with the closure of UniverCidade, which meant our work with high school students had to come to a halt.
The Solar shortly employed the same teachers and principal who worked at Colégio Cidade, but due to pedagogical differences, these professionals were also let go in 2014.
In February 2015, there was a complete educational restructuralization with the hiring of new excellent education professionals, most of which had Masters and PhDs, and chosen according to the compatibility with the methods already implemented in our Nursery, Kinder-garden, and Elementary School.
This way, we were able to fulfill a great dream, which was the unification of the teaching methods used from Nursery School all the way to High School, which brought progress to the education of these students. The salaries paid to part of our teaching staff was made possible by our partnership with Universidade Estácio de Sá, from 2014 to 2016, and which still offers half-scholarships to their colleges, as well as many other benefits to the students of the Solar.
Today, Solar Meninos de Luz counts with a team of teachers and collaborators who believe in the methods implemented by the Solar and go out of their way to always give the students their best!
