Solar History Professor participates in a Book Release
Marcella Albaine Farias da Costa, History professor of Elementary II and High School students of Solar Integral School, participated today, September 14th, in Narrativas do Rio de Janeiro nas Aulas de História (Rio de Janeiro Narratives in History Classes) book launching, at UFRJ Science House , In Botafogo.
Marcella was invited to participate in the book by the organizers and wrote Chapter 8, where she had the opportunity to talk a little about the experience of building digital didactic materials with her undergraduate students when she was a substitute teacher of Teaching History and Teaching Practice Of History at UFRJ. Her belief is that shared experience can help other in-service teachers and also those who are already working and seek to innovate in their day-to-day classroom practices.
The book was the result of the Project ‘Narrativas do Estado do Rio de Janeiro nas aulas de História: um estudo a partir de diferentes vozes’ (Rio de Janeiro State Narratives in History classes: a study from different voices), which began in 2013 with the objective of exploring the effects of narratives on the historical knowledge of Rio de Janeiro State, legitimized and validated to be taught at the different levels of basic education. In addition to the book, the Project is also building a website for teachers: http://narrativasdorio.com.br/
Although the experience presented in the book refers to the construction of time lines online with teachers in initial formation at the university, Marcella thinks of doing an experiment with her students, because she believes that it can make the learning more interesting for them.
Asked about her future plans in this area, she did not hesitate: “I intend to continue with enthusiasm, sweat and dedication in Education cause through History Teaching, which today composes my professional activity, my field of research at the University (I do my doctorate at UNIRIO) and, without doubt, it is one of my passions. I love teaching, I love learning, I love to research… and history helps me fight with love for a more just society.”
Our history teacher is a Ph.D. in History from Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UniRio), a Master in Education (UFRJ), a specialist in Information Technology Applied to Education (UFRJ) and graduated in History (UFRJ).
