Solar celebrates Arbor Day with environmental actions
On September 20th, Solar Meninos de Luz celebrated Arbor Day! All trees gained a special day because of its importance to human life and spring arrival, when they become even fuller of life and new flowers bloom, originating new trees. Everything gets more colorful and cheerful!
Thinking about the importance of trees to the environment, students from kindergarten and elementary school met with professionals from the Department of Environment and with our dear friend and volunteer Marcelo Dau. Together, they began to separate trash that was scattered by Solar and to prepare the soil for planting yellow-ipe seedlings, the tree that represents Brazil.
The plant can reach up to 15 meters and its canopy’s diameter can have up to 6 meters! Kindergarten little gang planted clove plants and they were very excited throughout all the process!
Students also got to visit the worm bin Marcelo gave the Solar as a gift. There are over 5000 worms inside it!
