Reading at Solar Program Inauguration with Jessé Andarilho and Anna Claudia Ramos
On September 15th, Solar Meninos de Luz inaugurated Reading at Solar Program at Paulo Coelho Community Library. The purpose of the program is to promote and energize the library for Solar Integral School and for community, bringing students and residents closer together and allowing each one to understand the library as a space of their own.
Solar Literário project, which has existed for years at Solar, was selected in “Todos por um Brasil de Leitores” Prize by Culture Ministry, which aims to reward good practices and innovative projects in community libraries / reading points. The award has allowed us to create Reading at Solar Program and to carry out storytelling activities, meetings of writers with students, serenades and other events that will make the Library space more dynamic, improve its structure and attract more visitors.
The program was inaugurated with the author of the book Fiel (Loyal), Jessé Andrilho, at 4:15 p.m., who talked with our students of Elementary School II. He told his life story, the story of his book and showed that it is possible to conquer any dream with persistence and perseverance.
Jesse is from Antares, a shanty town in the West Zone, and his history has brought him close to our students. When younger, he did not like to study and, like a twist, became a writer. His book, Fiel, was written during train travels. He spent about 4 hours in transports and took the time to write about a boy involved in drug trafficking. Jesse told that the main character, the loyal boy, has a bit of every person he knows.
At 6:15 p.m., the author of more than 70 books, Anna Claudia Ramos, made a reading wheel with our adult literacy students. In this first meeting, each student spoke a little about himself, his history and his interest in learning to read and write. Anna Claudia, in addition to talking about her journey, spoke about books, an item she wants to add to our students lives. She also talked about two of her books: ‘Enfim, Atleta!’ (Finally, Athlete!) and ‘Noites de Chuva’ (Rain Nights).
