Presidential Elections in 5th year
A Presidential Election was held at Solar to exemplify democracy for children of 5th year. Students, who are about to enter Elementary School II, where the methodology is different, are already practicing the novelty with teacher Leticia Castro in History classes.
Through the inverted classroom, they gain autonomy in the studies and become protagonists of knowledge, working mainly self-discipline, organization, sense of collectivity and deadlines.
After video-lessons and home-made researches, students debated the importance of democracy within history and the roles of the President and the heads of State.
To exemplify and make clear to the children, an election was created to elect a class representative, who will have responsibilities and duties. The interested students applied for the position and there was a voting in the voting booth. The winning plaque was number one, made up of President Lorraine and Vice President Lucas. Their campaign proposals were:
- Comply the rules
- Give everyone an opinion
- Organize the room
- Be responsible
- Comment on room behavior
- Take good care of the room
Elected representatives will now hold their positions under the supervision of voters.
