
Musa Teatral Company presents The Happy Prince
Actresses Flávia Bittencourt and Maria Augusta Novais, together with director Sotiris Karamesinis, volunteered with a theatrical class, in 2016, for Solar children from 8 to 10 years.
To celebrate the end of another year of partnership, they prepared a presentation of the play The Happy Prince – an Oscar Wilde tale, held on December 15.
The play stages the story of a Swallow and a Happy Prince statue.
It is about a dazzling statue, gold-plated, with sapphire eyes, rubies on the sword, erected by the city on the highest point, to honor the young prince who had been very happy, unrelated to oblivious to outside world and the misery it contained. From the hill, the statue contemplate people poverty.
A dreamy swallow, lost to emigrants, arrives at the statue as an occasional guest. Moved by the prince tears, yielded to his requests: to distribute, between the most needy, all the jewels that covered his body until leave him in ruins.
The little swallow, unable to abandon him, despite the harsh winter, sealed her love with a kiss and died at her beloved feet, sentenced by people vain authorities to be fused, for making city’s adornments ugly.
