Solar Meninos de Luz

Every year, the Meninos de Luz Youth Choir has an intensive schedule of events. It was no different in 2011! And for three consecutive years, they have been invited by the event coordinator, Sônia Dias, to participate in the Choir Symphony, an event promoted by the Spiritist Council of Rio de Janeiro State (CEERJ).

At the 15th edition of the Choral Symphony, on the 20th of November, the Choir put on a beautiful performance for a full house at the Rio de Janeiro Military College auditorium, singing different rhythms. The Choir received enthusiastic applause from the audience which, moved by the children’s performance, is looking forward to seeing them again in 2012.

On the afternoon of the 14th of December, the Meninos de Luz Choir took part in the Christmas Present event, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Banco do Brasil Educativo, held at the Banco do Brazil Cultural Center in downtown Rio. The event organizer, Adriana Christo, selected the Choir out of the 10 best community choirs in Rio de Janeiro to brighten the event by singing Christmas songs on the steps of the exhibition hall.

The Choir also performed at the Lar Paulo de Tarso (LPT) home during the Christmas Cantata event, which joined this institution’s youth and adult choirs, every Friday for four consecutive weeks, from the 25th of November to the 16th of December. The beautiful LPT house was decorated all over with lights and the choirs were spread around the windows and sidewalks, honoring the residents of Copacabana and Ipanema, who opened their windows and gathered in front of the house. Everyone was very moved, reliving the true Christmas spirit.
