March ‘Parent School’ Reunion
On March 17th, the 3rd Friday of the month, Solar held its traditional ‘Parent School’ reunion.
The meeting worked the theme Positive Pedagogy in the formation of happy and well-educated children. The goal is to guide parents to develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and problem-solving skills in their children.
Topics such as rigidity, permissiveness and positive discipline were debated and confronted. With rigidity, excessive control does not allow the child to learn responsibility. In the same way, permissiveness, lack of limits, also does not. To teach children responsibility, one must give freedom with order, limited choices. Make them know how to choose within the limits that show respect for all.
Four steps were worked to achieve children and students cooperation:
Express understanding for the child’s feelings.
Show empathy without showing agreement.
Share your feelings and perceptions.
Invite the child to think of a solution.
We also work the 3 R errors recovery:
Recognize an error.
Reconcile – apologize.
Resolve – work together on a solution.
