Exchange 2013
Camila Ferreira, 19, and Matthew Barbosa, 17, graduates from Solar Meninos de Luz in 2012, were awarded to participate in an exchange for the island of Malta in Europe, where they remain for three months. Both have excelled and showed great potential for fluency in the English language during the Second Seminar of Edupró-Raízes Culturais, which has Maria Galbier as co-founder and Leticia Portella as coordinator, performed in Solar between the months of July and August 2012. Students Ronaldo Marinho, 18, forming the Solar was also awarded a trip to Canada.
The youngsters won a scholarship to the Intensive English Program, January to March 2013, deploying, thus, the second phase of the program. These students were chosen for good class participation, dedication, willpower and enthusiasm. They travel on January 4 and will be hosted by local families. Then they can practice English in direct contact with the European and Canadian people.
The Seminars Edupro-Raízes Culturais have teaching fluency in English as main objective, with a cultural approach to the high school students from communities in order to prepare them personally and professionally for higher education and the labor market. The group of students interested in learning English met daily in the Community Library Children of Light, where he created an environment of immersion in English.
Students formed in 2011, Luan Goulart and Manuela Bacellar, awarded this year to exchange South Africa continue helping in the project whenever possible. They are very grateful to Edupró and Solar for the opportunity. Both returned from abroad fluent in English and this is the differential in interviews for internships and jobs.
Maria and Leticia believe that all of these activities during the meetings indicate that the course is not only language but culture and entertainment. "Due to the boom in export and import industries, oil and gas, tourism, hotel, finance, insurance and other activities connected with the exploration of pre-salt and also with the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games there are many jobs in the labor market, but lack qualified candidates, "said Maria. "Our goal is just to prepare them for the labor market, empowering them and making them able to compete and conquer these vacancies."
