Solar Meninos de Luz

For the second year running, Meninos de Luz Theater opened its doors for the Bboy Clash – Breakdance Championship. On Culture Day, the 5th of November, nearly 400 people came to watch the battles between crews (groups of dancers), where each team, according to event organizer Lúcio Pedra, “tries to convince the jurors, through its dancing and musicality, that it is the best, and thus win the playful clash.”

The Bboy Clash, planned and performed by the IQ-Fenix team, had its third edition in 2011 and was once again graced with the presence of DJ Mestre Lau and juror Bboy Neguin – world champion of Red Bull BC One in 2010. The GBCR crew won this clash and took home, along with the trophy, the two thousand real prize.

The event also included the band Fanfarra Cantagalo, playing the best of funk, soul and Latin music at the festival opening, and a hip hop presentation by Solar Meninos de Luz students, choreographed by Solar dance teacher Danilo D’alma.
