Afro Circus presents at Solar
On November 11, Peacekeeping Police Unit (UPP) of Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo brought Afro Circus to Solar for a presentation to students of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I. AfroReggae artistic group has existed for 13 years, with circus workshops in Cantagalo, for young people from various communities.
They presented part of “Genesis, the Mix of Creation” show, which tells the story of the world creation through the eyes of Iorubás, whose mythology influenced various religions birth, including Candomblé, in Brazil. Amid juggling, circus fabric and acrobatics, mysteries of African gods come to life.
On the scene, orixás and yabás give life to spectacle, which goes from classic to contemporary and gives to circus art the unmistakable Brazilian gingham using symbols and everyday elements of our culture.
Children loved the performance, shouted at each acrobatics and sang “again” at the end of the show, asking for a new performance. Solar thanks immensely for Afro Circus and Pavãozinho UPP for giving so much joy to our children.
