Solidarity without age
Paulo Coelho Community Library(*) reform is receiving a helping hand from the Solidarity Boys, Solar students.
With the help of partners and the writer Anna Claudia Ramos, who has more than 40 children’s books published, we were able to recover and color the walls and shelves of the entire library, giving a good improvement in the layout, making it more cheerful and comfortable. The Solidarity Boys are helping with the cleaning and storage of the 22.000 books donated over the 20 years of the library.
The Solidarity Boys Project is the students’ contribution to society and its School, seeking sustainability. It was created in 2004 to provide (to children and young people) voluntary activities that add value to their lives, such as personality building, appreciation of the good and good actions, as well as curricular training from basic education, and of course to help the others.
(*) In addition to the homage, the name of the library is a grateful thanks to the writer Paulo Coelho and his wife Christina Oiticica, who not only donated the property that houses the reading and arts space, but for more than 15 years they have collaborated with 25% of Solar’s current expenses.
