Tribute to Solar volunteers
Continuing the tribute that Solar will do to their dear and indispensable volunteers, in January, our honored friend is Luciana Martins. She has given Theater classes to Solar students for 14 years.
Luciana agreed to answer some questions:
Full name?
My name is Luciana de Souza Martins.
How did you get to know Solar?
I met Solar through Lar Paulo de Tarso.
How long have you volunteered at Solar?
I will complete 14 years at Solar. I started at the beginning of the 2004 school year.
In what areas do you work?
I give theater classes.
How do you feel about working at Solar?
I feel happy and blessed to be able to do this job!
What do you think about Solar’s work?
I find the work done by Solar incredible.
Do you think Solar influences people’s lives? In what way?
I think Solar influences a lot people’s lives. It influences in a broad and positive way, teaching, besides the programmatic contents of the disciplines, high moral values, educating by the art, teaching them to think and to decide for themselves, forming true citizens. My first students (Loren, Tainara, Manu, Diogo and Co.) are graduating today and I am very proud of that.
What is Solar characteristic that you most appreciate?
Educate with love … This is the characteristic of Solar that I appreciate most.
Is there a nice story between you and the students?
I have several storys!!! I will choose one … We were the first to present a show on the stage of Meninos de Luz Theater, but it did not have light yet, so we opened the Theater like Ziembinski, a great figure of Theater. Me and the students got together and we and went after support to have light so that we could present our show on the stage which we saw being built over that year. We got support from a great friend who had graduated with me in Theater Direction course at UFRJ, Marcos Guimarães, who understood everything from light, and support of wires, plugs and etc with Amoedo. Wooden boxes were removed from General Osório’s trash, pet bottles collected by the students turned the reflectors and on December 16, 2005, at 5:30 p.m. we premiered the show TEEN LIFE at the Meninos de Luz Theater (the art of the show is below).
Evelyn, Solar Meninos de Luz thank you immensely for the time and love dedicated to Solar and our students!
