Games Workshop Closing
On November 29, Games Workshop was closed at Solar Integral School with the participation of Érica Calil Nogueira, guest teacher of the discipline Intelligent Games at UFRJ.
The final class had the theme “The game industry in Brazil”, thinking of games as a possible professional area to pursue a career. When they met someone who works in this market, the students debated widely their conceptions on the subject.
Throughout the year, Marcella Albaine, professor of the workshop, also addressed topics such as disability, in which students blindfolded and were guided by a colleague, writing a poem about it later; gender issues, thinking the figure of the woman in this initially masculinized market and a simulated jury, in which one group blamed the games for health problems and another defended the responsibility of the same, developing the argumentative capacity.
Marcella Albaine, creator of this workshop, is a History teacher at Solar and author of the book Ensino de História e Games – Dimensões Práticas em Sala de Aula (Teaching History and Games – Practical Dimensions in Classroom).
