Christina Oiticica visits Solar and is moved by re-readings of her work
On the afternoon of the 9th of November, Solar Meninos de Luz was visited by the great visual artist Christina Oiticica, who has exhibited her work around the world. During her visit, she was able to see the works students created as part of the Literary Circle Project, exhibited at the Art Gallery, based on the book “The Cloud and the Dune” by the author.
These works were created from September onwards under the guidance of pedagogic director Rosemarie Ramalho and the entire staff of teachers and nursery aides. They held a meeting in which they assessed all the ways the book could be explored by each age group, from nursery to the 5th year.
The artist also visited the Community Library, named after her husband, writer Paulo Coelho, and the Christina Oiticica Arts Room. This room contains the works from the “Re-readings of Works by Brazilian Painters” project, this time created by children from the 1st to 5th years, based on the works: Four Seasons, Mouth, Heart of Flowers, Cebreiro Heart.
On the eve of the launch of the book “Recounting the art of Christina Oiticica”, by Patrícia De Luna, the artist came to Rio de Janeiro and used the opportunity to pay us this visit. Christina was delighted with the re-readings made by Solar children.
In her new book, to be launched this month, Christina Oiticica reveals how her husband Paulo Coelho’s work influences her own.
Thank you, Christina and Paulo, for always collaborating with our Solar! If it were not for you, Solar would not be what it is.
