Musical ‘Um Passeio Mar Adentro’ at Meninos de Luz Theater
On August 4, at 3:00 pm, Mar Adentro Institute, with WWF-Brasil support, presented the children’s musical “Um Passeio Mar Adentro” (A Walk in the Sea) at Meninos de Luz Theater for all Solar students, from kindergarten to High School. The show was created after five years of scientific research in the Cagarras Islands archipelago, the first marine conservation area in Rio de Janeiro.
The ludic action is part of the project ‘Conhecer para Preservar’ (Know to Preserve), which seeks to sensitize society in protecting the marine environment, fighting pollution of beaches and seas.
The show awakens in the new generation another vision of regarding solid waste disposal. The roadmap is aimed at promoting environmental education, guiding and sensitizing the public about the environmental impacts that litter causes. The lack of concern of population with the destination of their waste has generated many damages to nature. To get an idea, data from the World Economic Forum indicate that, by 2050, there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish. Thus, it is necessary to stimulate an urgent transformation in the behavior of society to reverse this scenario.
