Childrenâ’s month at Solar
In October, children’s month in Brazil, Solar’s children had lots of treats! To celebrate Children’s Day there were teachers, educators, tasty snacks, games, lots of music, outings, an indoor soccer tournament, toys and lots of stories!
At the beginning of the week, on the 10th of October, we received Charanga do Rebola at the Meninos de Luz Theater, performing for about 300 children. This super-interactive circus attraction was brought to us by the shop Casa e Bebê Decor, which also collected new toys, cookies and books for the Solar children! It was a very fun afternoon for people of all ages! They played the alligator game, the chicks and fox game, did somersaults and acrobatics, and there was lots of music and choreographed songs.
On the morning of Tuesday, the 11th, the primary school boys participated in a Futsal tournament organized by the Bibiu school inspector. The teams were mixed so the games would be fairer! The winning team and the runner-up won trophies and posed for many photos! There was a beautiful celebration and the striker was even carried by his teammates!
Also in the morning, the 1st year students went to Garota de Ipanema Park and the 5th year ones went to the zoo! In the afternoon, the girls from Via Mia came to hand out gifts to about 130 primary school kids! The girls got beautiful dolls and the boys got cars and balls! They loved it! That same day, the Child Education kids had a snack with cakes, desserts, juice and soft drinks! After the Children’s Day holiday, the 3rd and 4th year students also took a walk in Flamengo Park.
At the end of the month, the 25th of October, we were visited by the story-telling group Rio de Histórias, from Associação Viva e Deixe Viver, with the support of Band Rio. It was a wonderful team, made up of president Regina Porto, Marcia Borges and story-teller Giovana Olivieri, which usually tells stories to children in hospitals and has decided to expand the practice to schools and institutions, beginning with Solar.
The Nursery babies got little gifts and about 50 kids from Kindergartens I and II heard and participated in the interactive stories, with puppets, toys, songs and color-mixing experiments which captivated the kids and adults who were present! The party ended with a delicious cake and soft drinks for the little ones!
And of course there had to be the work that always happens on Saturdays, part of Solar’s “Community Program”! About 30 volunteers from Lar Paulo de Tarso prepared a special party for 80 kids in the community. The party, called “Happiness Day”, counted with the recreation team Bússola Kids Club, which was invited by volunteer Neide Mesquita, the event’s main organizer, and brought happiness to the kids, who painted personalized shirts, built toys with recyclable material, got tattoos, a special snack and lots of music!
