Solar students develop social projects in the community
The Boca de Lixeira (Dumpster Entrance) and H2BK Dance Workshop projects were selected by the Redes para a Juventude (Networks for Youth) Agency in August of this year. Their creators are two students from Solar Meninos de Luz – Joyce Pires and Ronaldo Marinho, respectively, who began their activities at the end of November, with effective support from Solar.
Boca de Lixeira, which targets the environmental re-education of community residents and selective waste collection, used the Choir room to present and plan the program to be followed by its participants. The project plans to restart its activities this month and, subsequently, to explain its program in general lines to society as a whole at the Meninos de Luz Theater.
As for the H2BK Dance Workshop, it began two weeks ago, using the Meninos de Luz Theater, the covered court and the Multimedia room to hold workshops in Hip Hop dance and culture. Six workshops are still to be held and, if someone wants to register, the project will collect 1kg of food to be donated to Solar Meninos de Luz.
Through these projects, in tune with the social and cultural needs of Pavão/ Pavãozinho and Cantagalo, our students are examples of social responsibility, taking the opportunity to practice and stimulate citizenship.
