Solarâ’s 2013 Capoeira Baptism Solar is possible thanks to our Partners
On October 25th, 140 students from 8 to 17 years old received their first white ropes with yellow, orange and gray points from the hands of Ninho, Capoeira master, during Solar’s Capoeira Baptism. The ropes, which are changed according to time and performance in the sport, were delivered in Meninos de Luz Theatre to the sound of drums and with the active participation of parents, students and teachers.
Nothing would be possible without the participation of partners Bichara, Barata & Costa Bar Association and Kabbalah Portal, the latter is supporting Capoeira since 2010. It is not cheap to perform the Annual Capoeira Baptism with the dignity and solemnity that the boys from Solar deserve: banners, invitations, many shirts and ropes, plus the spectacular institution infrastructure and the remuneration of committed professionals are part of the budget. All the results were excellent.
Now it is time for a little history: Capoeira was created by African slaves in Brazil during the sixteenth century. The sport is considered a martial art, mixing music, body language and popular culture. Overtime it became a fully Brazilian art. According to Educate and Grow magazine March publication, Capoeira diffuses the value of defense instead of attack and it helps in moral training, promotes children’s curiosity, physical development and stimulates emotional control.
In November 2009, Ninho started lecturing Meninos de luz classes from preschool to elementary school, and brought in the group that he founded 2 years ago, Saravá Capoeira – http://grupo-sarava-capoeira. blogspot.com.br / – , the group is present today in 12 Rio de Janeiro neighborhoods and 3 neighborhoods from Minas Gerais.
Ninho, whose actual name is Felipe Costa, was born in the city of Água Santa, Rio de Janeiro. He launched his first CD during the event with Capoeira songs written by him. The Album is called Anoiteceu and it can be purchased through the email nosaravacapoeira01@yahoo.com.
